The Real Story Behind Toxic Freedom, Told by a Women Who Refused to Stay Silent
Have you ever stood in the grocery aisle, overwhelmed by “clean,” “green,” and “natural” labels—hoping this one won’t hurt your family—only to walk away more confused than ever?
I've been there too.
But our journey didn’t begin with products or Pinterest DIYs.
It began in a war zone.
We Were Soldiers First — Before We Were Founders
I'm Ashley, co-founder of Toxic Freedom along with my mom, Lori Jones.
Before I became a business owner, I was a deployed soldier, navigating a war zone—and unknowingly, a toxic one.
Years ago, Ashley deployed to Iraq alongside her husband, Tre, also a soldier in the United States Army. We were deployed to an airbase oversees that had been hit months earlier by a ballistic missile launched by Iran. The explosion was long over, but its shadow remained.
We worked and workout where the walls were still covered in black soot. Our gym area The air was thick and strange. No one warned us. We were just told to do our jobs.
And we did—until the memorandum came.
An official report outlined toxic chemicals detected in our Area of Operation. Many of them were linked to cancer, hormone disruption, and long-term immune system damage.
But at the time, no one explained the risks. We didn’t think twice.
The Symptoms Started After We Got Home
Months after returning from Iraq, something terrifying began happening.
Soldiers from our unit started falling ill—with no clear explanation.
Chronic fatigue. Brain fog. Hormonal imbalances. Pain. Anxiety. Illness. Seizures. And unexplainable blackouts
And Tre—Ashley’s husband—was one of them.
Doctor after doctor had no answers. But we knew.
The toxins we were exposed to didn’t kill us on the battlefield.
They were poisoning us slowly at home.
During this time, my husband was taken 22 medical prescriptions. Every time we'd do to the doctor, they'd find something wrong and we'd get admitted to the ER. This went on for months.
We Started Questioning Everything
If we could be poisoned overseas without warning, what was happening in our homes every day?
We looked at everything differently:
🧴 What were we using on our skin?
🧼 What was in our laundry detergent?
🍴 What was coating our dishes, our pans, our cutting boards?
We went full DIY—making all our own cleaners, soaps, lotions. But it was overwhelming. Time-consuming. And honestly, not always effective.
We needed real products we could trust. But the more we looked… the more we realized most “natural” products were anything but.
Then Came the Cancer Diagnosis
When Lori’s husband (Ashley’s father) was diagnosed with cancer, our fear turned into fire.
That moment confirmed everything we already suspected:
Toxins are everywhere, and no one is telling the truth.
From war zones to laundry rooms, we’re being exposed, misled, and harmed.
That’s When Toxic Freedom Was Born
We built Toxic Freedom because we were tired of the lies.
Tired of fighting invisible enemies.
Tired of playing label detective.
Tired of wondering if our home was still hurting our family.
We weren’t just building a product line.
We were building a lifeline—for people like us, and people like you.
Toxic Freedom offers:
✅ Clean, non-toxic products with full ingredient transparency
✅ No greenwashing. No hidden synthetics.
✅ Solutions tested by people who lived through toxic exposure and came back fighting
Did You Know?
🔹 Over 84,000 chemicals are used in consumer products in the U.S., and most have never been safety tested (Environmental Working Group).
🔹 Veterans exposed to burn pits, ballistic missile impacts, and chemical warfare have suffered rising illness rates, including cancers and neurological damage (U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs).
🔹 The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has criticized the lack of transparency and regulation in the personal care industry (GAO.gov Report on Chemical Safety).
These facts don’t come from a blog—they come from the federal government, public health advocates, and independent watchdogs.
So if you feel like you’re doing everything right but still not feeling well, you’re not crazy.
You’re living in a world flooded with silent, unregulated poison.
Our Promise: Real Clean. Real People. Real Protection.
We made Toxic Freedom for:
- The moms who read every label but still feel unsafe
- The veterans who came home sicker than when they left
- The people who just want clean products they can trust
And yes, we still carry what happened in Iraq.
Especially now—as headlines once again read:
“U.S. Bombs Iran in 2025”
It’s triggering.
Not just emotionally—but physically.
Because while politicians and generals debate, families like ours live with the aftermath.
Freedom without health isn’t freedom at all.
Toxic Freedom exists because knowledge is God.
