What is Akuamma?  

     Picralima nitida, better known as Akuamma, is a tree is found in Africa. The dried seeds from this tree are used by the locals throughout West Africa, particularly in Ghana as well as in the Ivory Coast and Nigeria as a natural option for relieving discomfort and remedying a variety of ailments for many generations, making them effective for those who are seeking a natural alternative. 

     The seeds are harvested from the Akuamma tree. The fruit is cut open and the seeds are extracted by hand. then they are sun-dried.

Akuamma seeds, which are sometimes called vincamajoridine, contain several powerful alkaloids, including akuammine, akuammidine, akuammicine, akuammigine, pseudo-akuammigine and pericine, amongst others. The primary alkaloid, akuammine, has a chemical structure that is very similar to mitragynine, one of the primary alkaloids contained within kratom.
